The Nashville man arrested on Friday in relation to the shooting of a judge’s moving vehicle last September was out on bail for unrelated crimes at the time of his latest arrest, having previously been granted a $125,000 bond on attempted murder and reckless endangerment charges following a March arrest.
Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) confirmed the arrest on Friday, writing that law enforcement identified 23-year-old David Bush (pictured here) as their suspect using “ballistic evidence and cell phone data” recovered from the time of the shooting.
Police say Bush was driving on I-440 near Nolensville Pike when he was observed “speeding and weaving in and out of traffic,” prior to opening fire on another vehicle.
The victim vehicle was driven by Tennessee Chancery Court Judge I’Ashea L. Myles (pictured here), who MNPD reported sustained injuries from broken glass during the shooting. The passenger in Myles’ vehicle was was hospitalized due gunshot wounds to her hand and leg, and was later released.
In a post to the social media platform X, MNPD wrote that Bush intentionally targeted the vehicle drive by Myles, but did not specify whether Bush has any connection to the judge.
During their investigation, MNPD said it found ballistic evidence that also tied Bush to a shooting that occurred in February, when law enforcement say “shots were fired from a white Nissan sedan into a car containing three people on Murfreesboro Pike at Hamilton Crossings.”
Neither of these incidents are connected to the March 28 arrest, when MNPD reported he was charged with attempted criminal homicide and felony reckless endangerment in a third road-rage incident police said left a man “critically wounded in the head” as a result.
It is unclear which judge granted the $125,000 bond for Bush, but the first judge to preside over the case was General Sessions Court Judge Sam Coleman. Subsequent court appearances for that case have been handled by General Sessions Court Judge Lynda Jones.
Coleman is the same judge who first presided over the case of Wilmer Garcia, who is reportedly accused of committing sexual battery against a 6-year-old girl while inside the victim’s home.
Despite being granted a $270,000 bond during a court appearance, Davidson County Sheriff’s Office jail records revealed Garcia was held on an immigration detainer by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and was not eligible for any type of release.
Myles is the judge who recently ruled that not one page of the writings left by Covenant School killer Audrey Elizabeth Hale would be released in a decision that provoked criticism from Tennessee government watchdogs and media outlets.

And he’s the son of former school board member and failed mayoral candidate Fran Bush. I know she likely isn’t responsible for anything but it seems like the media is awfully quiet about this “man” who (allegedly) committed three road rage shootings in less than a year. He’s now charged with 10 counts including murder, so I’m not sure if the man succumbed to his injuries. He even admitted to that one and still got out on bond.
You ought to catalog these bond amounts and occurrences following release so we can reference them come judge election time.
Sadly, judges must realize that releasing lifetime criminals back into our communities can also affect them. 🤷🏿
Par for the course.
